Teaching Kitchen

Having the intention to eat well is the easy part when it comes to adopting a healthier nutrition approach. It’s the application of this intention that can bring about self-doubt and lead to discouragement. Knowing what foods to buy requires attention to labels and quality of food. Finding healthy recipes with healthy ingredients can be overwhelming if it is unclear where to look. Knowing how to chop and season vegetables or complete a recipe may sound difficult and cause dread. Last, what if you spend all this time preparing food and end up not liking it?

This is where having time with your physician, going to a grocery store, learning how to prepare foods and taste them, can really increase confidence and enthusiasm in the kitchen. Cooking together has the added benefit of strengthening the teamwork mentality, as you see how invested your physician is in guiding you to improved health.

Summon Health members will have access to our teaching kitchen and learn culinary skills to address their health. Food preparation skills that you will learn; With. Your. Doctor. And in the same building where you have your medical visit. This utilizes CHEF (Culinary Health Education Fundamentals) coaching: an evidence-based program to improve nutrition that combines culinary training and health coaching principles.

We also look forward to offering demonstrations from culinary professionals from the Pittsburgh area – just more of the perks of being a member of Summon Health. Check out the blog post here for more information on what a teaching kitchen is.
